the short version
we don’t collect anything. there are no accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no ads, and no third parties. your data never leaves your phone. we have no servers, and there is nothing for us to see.
what the app stores, and where
everything the app creates — your focus sessions, the one thing you name, your moods, your written thoughts, your streak and your paintings — is stored locally on your device using apple's standard on-device storage. none of it is ever sent anywhere. we could not read it even if we wanted to.
face id
you can choose to protect your thoughts with face id. this uses apple's built-in authentication, handled entirely by your device. the app is only told whether authentication succeeded — we never see, receive or store your face id data or any biometric information.
notifications
if you turn them on, the app schedules local notifications on your device: a chime when a focus session ends, and an optional daily reminder. these are created and delivered on your device. no notification is ever sent through us or any outside service.
tips
tips are optional and processed by apple. we never see or handle your payment information.
your data is yours to move
you can export all of your data as a backup file, and import it again later or onto another device. these files are created by you, stored where you choose, and never pass through us. if you delete the app, its local data is removed with it, so keep a backup first if you want to save it.
this website
thesimplefocus.app sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers. it loads nothing from other companies — even the fonts are served from here. like any website, our host, cloudflare, processes basic technical information such as your ip address to deliver these pages and keep them safe. we don't use it to identify you.
children
the app does not collect any data from anyone, including children, and contains nothing unsuitable for a general audience.
changes to this document
we may update this document at any time. when we do, we will update the date at the top. continued use of the app after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. we encourage you to review this page periodically.

terms of service
this part covers the terms of service for thesimple.focus. it’s written plainly — no legalese traps, no fine print.
acceptance of terms
by downloading, installing, or using thesimple.focus (the app), you agree to be bound by these terms. if you do not agree, please do not use the app.
the app and what it does
thesimple.focus is a minimalist focus and mood journal for iphone. it lets you name one thing you want to accomplish, run a timed focus session, and pause or end it whenever you need. sessions that end early still count if you focused at least five minutes. each morning it asks how you felt the day before, and blends your mood, your focus, and the day into a color that is only yours. your month fills a honeycomb calendar, and keeping a streak earns paintings made from your own colors. you can also write private thoughts alongside each session. all of your data is stored locally on your device.
license to use
we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on any apple device you own or control, subject to these terms and the apple standard end user license agreement.
this license does not permit you to copy, modify, or distribute the app or its content; reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code; use the app commercially without our written permission; or transfer or sublicense your rights to any third party.
free forever, with optional support
the app is free. every feature is available to everyone, with nothing locked and nothing to unlock. there is no paid version.
if you'd like to support the app, you can leave a voluntary tip through the app settings. while tips are not required, they're truly appreciated — simply a way to help keep thesimple.focus simple and running.
all tips are processed by apple and subject to apple's terms. we never see or handle your payment information. tips are final, and any refund requests are handled by apple according to their standard refund policy — please contact apple support directly for refunds.
intellectual property
the app — including its design, interface, visual elements, and code — is owned by the developer and protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. these terms grant you no rights beyond the limited license above.
your content
everything you enter — the one thing you name, your thoughts and journal entries, your moods, and your session history — is stored only on your device. we never transmit, access, or collect it. you retain full ownership of everything you type. when you export a painting to your photos, or export your data as a backup file, those files are yours to keep and share however you like.
disclaimer of warranties
the app is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. we do not warrant that it will be error-free or uninterrupted. while we take care with local data storage, we are not responsible for data loss from device failure, accidental deletion, reinstalling the app, or operating system updates. exporting your data from time to time is the surest way to keep a copy.
limitation of liability
to the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid, if any, in voluntary tips.
apple's role
the app is distributed through the apple app store. apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its content. apple and its subsidiaries are, however, third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them accordingly. in any conflict between these terms and the apple eula, the apple eula governs as it relates to use on apple devices.
governing law
thesimple.focus is developed by 2DH LLC, a limited liability company formed in the state of new york, united states. these terms are governed by the laws of the state of new york, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in new york.
